Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist.
Though he died at an early age, and his career as a musician only lasted four
years, he was regarded as the greatest guitarist in the history of rock music.
Jimi Hendrix learned to play guitar all by himself.
He was born a left-hander, which makes it harder to play all those instruments
made for right-hander. Therefore, he used the guitar upside down and rearranged
the order of six strings to fit his left hand.
What made him last in the history is that
he had a lot of breakthrough in the techniques of playing guitar. Jimi Hendrix
was excellent in using the tone “distortion” and “feedback”. For example, in
the song “star spangled banner”, he used those effects to mimic the sound of
gunshot and screams of people, which perfectly expressed the anti-war
consciousness.

On the Monterey Pop Festival, he had
already become an extraordinary guitarist. Standing on the stage in front of
thousands of fans, he made a surprising act. He smashed his favorite guitar and
then burned it. I was totally astonished by the story and couldn’t understand
the reason at all.

Sadly, he passed away at the age of 27
because of taking too much sleeping pills, and ended up his splendid four-year
career as a guitarist. Jimi Hendrix left, but his songs remained and influenced
the whole generation.
Isn't it said that he smashed his guitar to surpass himself? lol
